Description
The smallest of the systems is the 406s, designed for boats 4mtr to 6mtr (20ft), the 406s headsail reefing meets the needs for smaller yachts and trailer sailors.
Very easy to use and virtually maintenance free, the Plastimo jib reefing is an additional reliable crew member which will enhance your sailing experience.
Plastimo jib reefing systems are supplied as a kit suitable for DIY installation and require no unstepping of the mast.
The inner PVC liner is clipped onto the forestay and the aluminium spar slides easily over the PVC liner.
The risk of tearing sails at junctions is therefore much reduced.
406 S : for boats from 4 to 6 m – 14 to 20 ft.
The 406 S features all the advantages of a large headsail reefing system :
Delrin twin ball bearing races in both drum and halyard swivel.
All components are manufactured from polyarylamide. Available in either Chainplates mounting or turnbuckle mounting.
The Plastimo 406S is suitable for use with headsails up to 12 square meters.
As a rough guide this is usually for boats between 4 and 6 metres.
All S series models feature a single luff groove on the foil.
The 406S comes with 2 furling drum attachment options:
The chainplates version has 5 height options for the forestay pin, ideal for forestays that are pinned.
The turnbuckle version has chainplates that are approximately twice the length for use with a rigging screw.
The extra height keeps the rigging screw available for adjustment.
The 406S requires no unstepping of the mast and no modification of the forestay thanks to a unique (patented) design.
This simple but effective design makes for extremely easy installation and take down, providing you with a totally reliable crew member.
All moulded components are manufactured using high-pressure injection techniques.
This engineering process gives the composite material properties which are comparable to certain metals, while remaing impervious to corrosion and are therefore maintenance free.
Both 406S models have the following common features:
Drum capacity – 7m x 5mm
Number of foil sections – 4 x 1.5m
Max Forestay diameter – 7mm
N.B. Furling Line not included.
The only difference between the two models of 406s is the length of chain plate underneath the drum.
Chainplate version:
Distance from underside of drum to end of chainplate = 65mm
No of holes: 5
