Description
Dayglow ORANGE is the colour used internationally, and the fade rate is minimised by jet dying the fabric. This is uniquely undertaken for the POLYESTER material used in McWilliam Windsocks.
The POLYESTER material is woven specially to our specification for windsock use. Nylon is unsuitable because it fades and rots rapidly due to UV degradation in sunlight. This is especially seen in the Middle East, Far East, North Africa and Central America.
Only McWilliam Windsocks are made from the above materials and processes which are specially undertaken for our windsocks.
These windsocks are designed and made using CAD/CAM technology to assure consistency of shape and size.

Summary for industrial use;
• Building under 15 metres = 3 metre mast with a 4 ft (1.2m) windsock
• Building over 30 metres = 6 metre mast with a 7 ft(2.1m) windsock
• Tower = 6 metre mast with a 7 ft (2.1m) windsock
• Harbour / ground based = 6 metre mast with a 4 ft (1.2m) windsock
Summary for Aviation use;
• Helicopter pad = 8 ft (2.4m) windsock with 4m or 6m mast.
Mast height dependent on helicopter rotor blade height. Windsock to be illuminated. Light
source to be mains powered complete with 24 hour battery backup.
• International Runway = 12 ft (3.6m) windsock with a 6 m mast.

• Regional runway = 7 ft (2.1m) windsock with a 6 m mast.
